Spring-speration

Oh hey there

Its been a solid few months since I wrote here last, and there are a few different categories of reasons why, but the main reasons are just a general lack of motivation, and just being super duper busy being super duper in love. (Feelings! ugh! gross, I know!) That love will most likely make an appearance on this blog eventually, but right now we’re focusing on that other fun thing: Motivation.

Usually inspiration is the missing ingredient in my recipe for success, but this time around, I have had so many ideas, I kid you not, notebooks full of ideas, but zero motivation to move forward with them. Over the past 6 months I have started so many projects but haven’t been able to follow through with any of them. I think it might be some kind of general overwhelm, I don’t think there is anything uplifting about being surrounded by unfulfilled plans 24/7. So I’ve been working to narrow down the main projects that I want to complete.

Something that has really been helping me with this was creating a masterlist of projects that I have already started, be it writing, art or other things. I keep this list in my bullet journal so that it’s accessible and easy to turn to when I have some time to work on things. I plan on doing a detailed tour of my new bullet journal on this blog at some point this month. Which leads me to the next thing that kind of holds me back from being creative and motivated; Time.

Working freelance has its perks, but the side that people don’t get to see is the countless hours that are spent working off the clock, marketing myself, and trying to get as much work done as possible per day. What people don’t see is the guilt that I feel when I take a break, or want to work on personal projects. I’m completely aware that there isn’t a reason to feel that guilt, because I work hard and should take breaks, but it’s a matter of justifying that me time. I think the best way for me to get past this is to schedule myself a little bit better. I plan to schedule breaks, as well as an hour or two each work day for personal projects.

So with all this being said, I am focusing in on a few main projects:
– This blog: design, marketing, branding, instagram
– A series of zines, on my own, as well as a collaborative series with a local artist
– A few started knitting/crochet projects that I need to finish up and check off my list!

I’ll be posting progress on both the blog and my new instagram, @cozy.bones. Let me know if you have any tips for completing creative projects, or if you keep a master list of projects in your bullet journal, feel free to leave them in the comments below, or tag me in your posts on instagram so I can see them! Thanks so much for reading, have a beautiful day!
