(I’m feeling this)
(( What song is this referencing!? Post your answer in the comments ))
Its been a few seconds since we spoke last, but July was a super hectic and disorganized month. I found myself barely using my bullet journal, which I think created some funky anxiety but overall, the chaos that was last month has mainly been all positive. Its been exactly a month since the love of my life and I moved in with each other, I got to see one of my favourite bands, Violent Femmes, and it’s been a week and a half since we got our new kitten, Sushi. The rest is about a 50/50 split of negative and positive things that aren’t exactly worth getting into. Without delving too far into the details of the situation, I’m just going to keep it super short and simple:
I am currently 100% self-employed
I am no longer working at that vintage clothing store that I mentioned in my first post. Its definitely more of a positive thing than a negative, and though it feels pretty scary right now, I know this was the push that I needed to go fully self-employed. I can’t help but feel a little nervous, this it the first time in my life that I haven’t had a boss or someone to make sure I’m doing the right thing. I have a career coach but its just not the same thing. I guess its just easy to fall into this mindset that freelancing isn’t real work. Its super easy to feel aimless when there is no one sitting there telling you what to do.
And then on the other hand I’m pretty thrilled that I don’t have to report to anyone other than my clients and myself. I’m looking forward to not being anxious about my workplace, and I’m looking forward to a rewarding career where I can learn and grow my business and still have time for my hobbies, loved ones and social life. I’m excited to have time for all my personal goals, as you can see here I laid out my August monthly goal sheet before the career change so I’m going to be making another spread of all my business goals.
With all of this being said, I really need to buckle down and get myself organized so that I can get more new clients in, and not just on a friend of a friend basis. I need to branch out more online and find more long term clients, so I’m going to be incorporating my portfolio and some of my work into this website. If you like any of what you see, like my custom greetings, signatures, pinterest or social media graphics or anything please let me know by contacting me through this site or by emailing me! I’m always looking to make new connections!
So ending on a positive note, I know I’m going to be fine, in fact, I’m going to be so much better than fine! The initial loss was a little defeating but I’m not going to let it ruin my stride! So I’m going to take a little bit of down time, write up a business plan, work on my portfolio, and just find my groove. I have a mini vacation planned near the end of August and I’m hoping that before I leave for that I’ll have everything set in place to really start taking this career seriously.
Not to mention I’m also going to take some time to get to know this new little kitten! This is Sushi, the newest and most naked edition to our family! He’s 4 months and he’s absolutely insane!
Navi and him have really connected yet, it was a super rough start, but they are getting better each day. Here’s a silly photo of them seperated by our duvet!
Thank you for reading this mess, if you have any advice or have been through something similar, please feel free to leave a comment below! I’m going to be posting every Wednesday and Friday this month so look forward to a whole bunch of new content!
